Yatter is built on trust. We collect only the information needed to operate the app and help you connect with friends. We never sell your data, and we never share it with third parties except where it is strictly required for core functionality (e.g., hosting, authentication, or delivering messages).
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the rights you have over your data.
We collect the minimum information required to run Yatter:
Phone number – used to create and verify your account.
Name or display name – used to identify you within the app.
Photo - if uploaded by you.
If you choose to sync your contacts, we receive:
Phone numbers and names from your device’s address book.
We use this information only to help you find friends who also use Yatter.
Contacts are never shared with any third party and never leave our secure systems.
To operate the app safely and reliably:
Device information (model, OS version)
App interaction data (e.g., when you send/receive messages)
Technical logs (e.g., crash reports)
We do NOT collect unnecessary analytics or advertising trackers.
We use the information we collect to:
Create and maintain your account
Deliver core features (voice messages, notifications)
Help you find friends through optional contact matching
Secure the platform, detect abuse or suspicious activity
Improve stability (e.g., fixing bugs and performance issues)
We never:
Sell your data
Rent your data
Share your contacts with anyone
Use your personal data for marketing
We only share information with third parties when it is absolutely necessary to deliver the service, such as:
Cloud hosting providers (for storing data)
SMS verification providers (to verify your phone number)
Push notification services (to deliver notifications)
These providers are bound by strict data protection agreements and cannot use your information for anything other than providing their service to us. We never share your data with advertisers, data brokers, or external parties unrelated to Yatter’s core functionality.
We take privacy and security seriously. We use industry-standard protections including:

Audio messages and user data are only stored as long as necessary to operate the service.
You have full control over your data.
You can delete your profile and all associated data at any time from within the app or by contacting us.
Once deleted:
Your account data is removed from active systems
Remaining backups are purged after a short retention period
You may request:
A copy of your data
Corrections to inaccurate information
You can revoke contact syncing at any time through your device settings.
We immediately stop using contact data for friend suggestions.
We retain your data only as long as needed for Yatter to function.
Typical retention:
Account data: kept until deletion
Audio messages: retained according to app settings & technical needs
Contacts: stored only for friend-matching and deleted when you revoke access
If we store or process data outside your country, we use legally approved safeguards (e.g., Standard Contractual Clauses for EU/UK users).
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the app or via email, with reasonable notice before they take effect.
